Norte Luxury Villas offers accommodation only, so one of the best parts of your stay is discovering the local food scene. Agioi Apostoloi is a small fishing village on the east coast of Evia, and together with the neighbouring village of Petries it has a handful of excellent taverns, cafés and beach bars – all a few minutes from the villas. Here is our local guide to where to eat.
Breakfast right next door: Cana
Our partner Cana is right next door to the villas – the easiest way to start your day. Norte guests get 10% off breakfast at Cana. Just mention that you are staying with us.
Fish taverns in Agioi Apostoloi
Agioi Apostoloi has an active fishing harbour, so fresh fish is the star of the local menu. Ask for the catch of the day – it is usually sold by the kilo and cooked grilled or fried.
Koutsi Karavida
A family-run fish taverna and one of the best-known places in the village. The menu focuses on fresh fish, seafood and ouzo meze, with dishes such as seafood risotto, kritharoto (orzo) with seafood, shrimp pasta and lobster spaghetti, plus a few home-cooked daily dishes.
To Klimaki
A fish taverna next to the harbour at Klimaki beach, loved for its meze and its open view of the beach and the Aegean. Ideal for a long lunch by the sea.
Traditional Greek taverns
To Balkoni tou Aigaiou (The Aegean Balcony)
A family taverna set high above the harbour with panoramic views. Come here for classic Greek grilled meats, roast lamb, homemade meatballs and seasonal dishes – and book a table at sunset.
Lianni Ammos
A traditional Greek taverna with a lovely view, well rated by visitors for simple, authentic cooking.
Modern Mediterranean, brunch and cocktails
To Pezouli
A modern Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail bar with a rustic-chic style. The menu ranges from brunch favourites such as eggs Benedict to grilled meats and house-made desserts like mille-feuille, and its signature cocktails are a local favourite.
Stin Ammo (On the Sand)
An all-day bar-restaurant right on the beach, with sun loungers during the day. Expect fresh, home-style food such as grandma’s meatballs, fried squid, zucchini fritters and shrimp pasta, made with vegetables from the family garden.
Faros Café
An all-day café and bar on the waterfront of Agioi Apostoloi: morning coffee and pastries, light dishes like a salmon open sandwich during the day, and cocktails in the evening.
Petries village
Just up the road, the stone village of Petries is worth an evening visit for its small square and traditional atmosphere.
- I Ampoli – a traditional taverna serving grilled meats and classic Greek starters, cooked daily with seasonal local products from Evia.
- O Platanos – a village taverna on the central square of Petries.
- I Glam Mouria – a stylish bar on the square under a large mulberry tree, perfect for a drink after dinner.
For breakfast in your villa: the local bakery
Every villa at Norte has a fully equipped kitchen, so many guests like to start the day on their own terrace. Pick up fresh bread, tiropita (cheese pie), spanakopita (spinach pie) and Greek sweets such as baklava and galaktoboureko from the Palaiodimou bakery, a traditional family bakery with a shop in Agioi Apostoloi.
