Villa vs Hotel in Greece: What You Really Get for Your Money

Should you stay in a hotel or a private villa on your holiday in Greece? Both have their place, but for couples who want privacy, families and groups of friends, a villa often offers more for the same budget. Here is an honest comparison to help you decide.

Space

A typical hotel room is 20 to 30 m². At Norte Luxury Villas, each villa has 65 m² of indoor space with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen, plus a balcony, a 40 m² outdoor lounge and a private garden. For a family of four, that is the difference between sharing one room and having your own home.

Our villas at a glance

  • Villa 1 (up to 5 guests): 65 m² indoors, 10 m² balcony, 20 m² private hydromassage pool, 40 m² outdoor lounge and an 80 m² private lawn garden.
  • Villa 2 (up to 6 guests): 65 m² indoors, 10 m² balcony, 20 m² private hydromassage pool, 40 m² outdoor lounge and a 20 m² private lawn garden.
  • Villa 3 (up to 6 guests): 65 m² indoors, 10 m² balcony, 20 m² private hydromassage pool, 40 m² outdoor lounge and a 17 m² private lawn garden.
  • Villa 4 (up to 5 guests): 65 m² indoors, 10 m² balcony, 20 m² private hydromassage pool, 40 m² outdoor lounge and a 150 m² private lawn garden.

Every villa has two bedrooms (a super king bed and two single beds that can be joined), two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and daily housekeeping, just like in a hotel.

Privacy

In a hotel you share the pool, the breakfast room and the corridors with dozens of other guests. In a villa, the pool, terrace and garden are yours alone. No early alarm to reserve a sunbed, no noise from neighbouring rooms.

Cost per person

A villa may look more expensive per night than a hotel room, but divide the price by the number of guests. Our Villas 2 and 3 sleep up to 6 people and Villas 1 and 4 up to 5, so the cost per person is often lower than two or three hotel rooms. Add the savings of preparing some meals yourself and the difference grows. And booking direct on our website is guaranteed 10% cheaper than on booking platforms.

Freedom and flexibility

Breakfast at 11, a swim at midnight, children’s naps in a quiet bedroom: a villa follows your rhythm, not the hotel’s schedule. A fully equipped kitchen and a washer-dryer also make longer stays much easier.

What hotels do better

To be fair, hotels offer things a villa usually does not: a 24-hour reception, a restaurant and bar on site and organised activities. Daily housekeeping is often seen as a hotel-only perk, but at Norte Luxury Villas your villa is cleaned every day too. If you want a full resort with entertainment, a hotel may suit you better.

The best of both

At Norte we combine the privacy of a villa with hotel-style services:

  • Daily housekeeping, just like in a hotel.
  • Towels changed every 2 days and bed linen every 3 nights.
  • Nespresso capsules refilled daily, bathrobes and quality toiletries.
  • A welcome gift on arrival.
  • Pool heating on request, a baby cot and high chair, and an on-site EV charger.
  • 10% off breakfast at Cana, our partner next door.

Our verdict

If you are travelling as a family, with friends or simply value space and privacy, a villa gives you more for your money. Read our villa guide for families and why Evia is a great alternative to the busy islands, then check availability for your dates. Questions? See our FAQ.
